I headed out around 3pm today to go to a Christian discipleship event with Torben Sondergaard of the Last Reformation movement. Getting the tube was uncomfortable and I’m glad I allowed myself plenty of time. I arrived in the area a couple of hours early and got off the train at a stop which is a short journey from the venue. As I write, I’m sat by the river opposite an airport, watching planes landing and taking off which is rather awe inspiring!
I will be heading to the event in about an hour and I’m both anxious and excited. I prayed that everything goes smoothly, but you never know what God will do. One of the reasons why I’m going to the event is to try to get some clarity around some issues I’ve been struggling with. I have for some time wondered whether I need to experience deliverance because of my Schizophrenia diagnosis and related experiences. I have also wondered whether my baptism in a Baptist church in 2015, and my Holy Spirit baptism soon afterwards, were genuine and complete experiences. I have sometimes felt doubtful that they were. It would be a tremendous blessing to settle these issues at the event either tonight or over the weekend (it’s a three day event). May the Lord be with me!
The Last Reformation is a Christian discipleship movement that aims to return Christian living to the type of evangelistic activities described in the Book of Acts in the Bible. They are the only Christian movement I’ve found that practices casting out demons, and this is one of the main reasons why the movement is so appealing. There is an authenticity and a depth to their approach that I haven’t found elsewhere. I think it would be fair to say that in the institutional church, someone could attend for years while possessed with a demon and it may not be noticed and the person helped.
Part of me hopes that I will be pleasantly surprised and find that I don’t need deliverance, but it’s important to me to go through the process of trying to find out, as I fervently seek to be right with Jesus and right with God.
It’s highly likely that one of my posts next week will include an account of what happened at the event, so do check back if you’re interested!
Thank you for reading 😊
